Jeff Sorensen was born and raised just outside Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He began playing music at an early age as a violinist in the elementary school orchestra.  After four years of playing the violin, Jeff temporarily laid down the violin and took up playing percussion in the school band.  While in the school band, Jeff also began playing the piano.  In about eighth grade, as with every eighth grader, an electric guitar was a necessity in life.  As the years passed, an acoustic guitar began to better suit the style of Jeff’s playing.  In 2000, Jeff left for college and moved to Montana where he developed a love for bluegrass music.  Not long after developing an ear for bluegrass music, Jeff found that a mandolin was a better fit in his hands.  While Jeff continued to musically indulge himself by playing his many different instruments with friends, Jeff began to get more serious about music by exploring other avenues the music industry has to offer.  As a co-promoter for a concert at the University of Montana, he managed to bring Toots and the Maytals onto campus.  After graduating college with a business management degree, Jeff moved to Tempe, AZ for audio production school.  Jeff learned an invaluable amount of information on topics such as studio recording, live sound and music business.  Upon completion of audio engineering school, Jeff set out for Nashville.  After a short time, Jeff had landed himself a position at a studio.  As Jeff stared through the studio’s glass at the musicians on the other side, he came to the realization that his true desire was to leave the engineering to others and pursue music himself.  Upon this realization, Jeff moved back to Minnesota and began regularly playing music with a few musical friends who now collectively call themselves…Frickin’ Pickin’.
